Health Benefits of Garlic

Garlic

Garlic is a member of the Allium family, and is closely related to onions, shallots, and leeks. It is the edible bulb of the plant Allium sativum.

The plants are whimsical and pretty, with a tight "globe" of small, clustered flowers atop a bright green, erect stem.

Famed for its pungent aroma and delicious taste, garlic has not only been prized in culinary alchemies, but has been used medicinally throughout the ages to treat conditions like asthma, digestive disorders, heart disease, infections, respiratory disorders, yeast overgrowths, tumors, and parasites!

Garlic contains a variety of sulfur compounds, known to have significant properties for protecting and enhancing wellness.

Perhaps the best known of these sulfur compounds is allicin, which also gives garlic its taste and smell! Allicin is anti-inflammatory and a respected antioxidant that can protect the body from free radicals.

Not only is garlic a delicious ingredient to use in cooking, but research shows it is extremely beneficial for thriving health!

Our garlic powder is shelf stable, so it lasts far longer than fresh garlic. It is super concentrated, so a little goes a long way! Please see our chart above for ratios on substituting our healthy garlic powder for fresh cloves.
